भारत के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम का इतिहास महान नेताओं और प्रसिद्ध आंदोलनों से भरा है। लेकिन इस आज़ादी की नींव में अनगिनत ऐसे गुमनाम नायकों का भी योगदान है, जिनकी कहानियाँ अक्सर इतिहास के पन्नों में खो जाती हैं। छत्तीसगढ़ की धरती ने भी ऐसे कई वीर सपूतों को जन्म दिया, जिन्होंने मातृभूमि के लिए अपना सर्वस्व न्योछावर कर दिया।
शहीद वीर नारायण सिंह को छत्तीसगढ़ में 1857 की क्रांति का प्रथम शहीद माना जाता है। सोनाखान के एक जमींदार, उन्होंने अकाल के दौरान अपनी भूखी प्रजा को खिलाने के लिए एक व्यापारी के अनाज भंडार को लूट लिया था। इस जनसेवा के कार्य के कारण अंग्रेजों ने उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लिया और 10 दिसंबर 1857 को रायपुर के जयस्तंभ चौक पर सार्वजनिक रूप से फांसी दे दी।
बस्तर के वीर गुण्डाधूर आदिवासी चेतना और स्वाभिमान के प्रतीक हैं। उन्होंने 1910 में अंग्रेजों और तत्कालीन रियासत की शोषणकारी नीतियों के खिलाफ भूमकाल विद्रोह का नेतृत्व किया। यह विद्रोह जल, जंगल और ज़मीन पर आदिवासियों के पारंपरिक अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिए था। गुण्डाधूर की वीरता आज भी बस्तर के लोकगीतों में जीवित है।
रायपुर के परसराम सोनी एक ऐसे क्रांतिकारी थे, जिन्होंने मात्र 21 साल की उम्र में अंग्रेजों को हिलाकर रख दिया था। उन्होंने अपने साथियों के साथ मिलकर बम बनाने और ब्रिटिश अधिकारियों पर हमला करने की योजना बनाई, जिसे 'रायपुर षड्यंत्र केस' के नाम से जाना जाता है।
ठाकुर प्यारेलाल सिंह को छत्तीसगढ़ में सहकारी आंदोलन का जनक माना जाता है। उन्होंने राजनांदगांव में मिल मजदूरों को संगठित कर उनके अधिकारों के लिए लंबा संघर्ष किया। उन्होंने किसानों और मजदूरों की दुर्दशा को समझा और उन्हें शोषण से मुक्त कराने के लिए अपना जीवन समर्पित कर दिया।
ये कुछ ही नाम हैं, इनके अलावा भी छत्तीसगढ़ में अनगिनत ऐसे नायक हुए हैं जिनका योगदान अमूल्य है। इन गुमनाम नायकों की कहानियों को याद करना और उनसे प्रेरणा लेना ही उनके प्रति सच्ची श्रद्धांजलि है।

Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh is considered the first martyr of the 1857 revolution in Chhattisgarh. A landlord from Sonakhan, he looted a merchant's grain store to feed his starving people during a famine. For this act of public service, he was arrested by the British and publicly hanged at Jaistambh Chowk in Raipur on December 10, 1857.
Veer Gundadhur of Bastar is a symbol of tribal consciousness and self-respect. In 1910, he led the Bhumkal Rebellion against the exploitative policies of the British and the then princely state. This rebellion was to protect the traditional rights of tribals over water, forest, and land (jal, jangal, zameen). Gundadhur's bravery is still alive in the folk songs of Bastar.
Parasram Soni of Raipur was a revolutionary who shook the British at the young age of 21. Along with his companions, he planned to make bombs and attack British officials, a plan which came to be known as the 'Raipur Conspiracy Case'.
Thakur Pyarelal Singh is considered the father of the cooperative movement in Chhattisgarh. He organized the mill workers in Rajnandgaon and fought a long struggle for their rights. He understood the plight of farmers and laborers and dedicated his life to freeing them from exploitation.
These are just a few names; besides them, there have been countless heroes in Chhattisgarh whose contribution is invaluable. Remembering the stories of these unsung heroes and drawing inspiration from them is the truest tribute to them.
